CRE8 CSRM™ Complex System Replacement Methodology provides a practical approach to plan for replacement of complex computers systems due to outdated applications, new organizational requirements, or discontinuation of vendor support. CSRM™ assesses options including:

  • Extending life of systems,
  • Porting system to new platforms / databases, 
  • Purchase of COTS (Off The Shelf Replacement System), or 
  • Custom system development.

Key to CSRM™ is the following  R.E.P.L.A.C.E.™ steps.

Realization of the actual work, resources, and timeline required to replace your current complex computer system.  CRE8 works with executives, managers, staff, and information technology to assess replacement: goals, timeline, alternatives, resources and budget.  Identify ways to extend life of current system.

Evaluate and select replacement option (e.g. port, COTS (off-the-shelf), or custom development). In this step, CRE8 conducts option: research, assessment, ranking, and cost/justification analysis.

Provide assistance to gather detailed requirements for the selected replacement option.  CRE8 will work with your staff to conduct the following work. Document the appropriate level of module, sub module, interface and database requirements.  Evaluate if the replacement option will postivley support processes, staff, and customers. Identify what functionality must be included in the first version verses what can be in future versions of the system.

Assess vendor approach.  Evaluate vendor: teams, product, service, methodology, quality assurance, support, proposal, costs, and references.

Conduct quality assurance oversight of vendor.  Throughout project compare and measure document requirements (acceptance criteria) to accepted deliverables and compare costs to budget.

Evaluation of vendor completion.   Intervene and mediate as required to resolve final differences in application or cost.
